Vietnam’s Deputy PM Nguyễn Hòa Bình meets with Singapore’s Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong to discuss deeper cooperation, focusing on financial centers and VSIP growth.
During a working visit to Singapore, Vietnam’s Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Hòa Bình met with Singaporean Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong to discuss further strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations. The meeting highlighted the ongoing expansion of the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) network and explored opportunities for financial cooperation, including the establishment of Vietnam’s International Financial Centre.
Bình conveyed warm greetings from the leadership of Vietnam and expressed gratitude for the lasting contributions of Singapore’s late Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew and Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong. These efforts have played a pivotal role in the development of Vietnam’s economy and the strengthening of the bilateral relationship, especially through the VSIP network, which currently includes 21 parks in 14 provinces and cities.
Lee Hsien Loong expressed his confidence in Vietnam’s continued economic development, citing the country’s potential and comparative advantages. He also congratulated Vietnam on the establishment of its International Financial Centre, describing it as a key step in Vietnam’s new development phase. Lee shared Singapore’s experience in developing financial hubs and offered strategic advice to Vietnam, reaffirming Singapore’s commitment to supporting the development of financial connectivity between the two countries.
The Deputy PM thanked Lee for his insights and noted that Singaporean banks, financial institutions, and investors had shown strong interest in Vietnam’s new financial initiatives. Bình emphasized the importance of continued support from Singapore to further advance practical cooperation, particularly in the financial sector, and to foster connections between the two countries’ financial centres.
As part of the ongoing diplomatic efforts, Bình extended an invitation to Lee to visit Vietnam at a convenient time. Lee accepted the invitation, underscoring the continued collaboration between the two nations in shaping a robust economic future.
